What is push notification how it works?

We have all seen “Push Notification” in action. When you open your phone, they pop up on your phone’s home screen, from Facebook, your bank, other installed Apps and some SMS’s.

A push notification is a message that pops up on a mobile device or PC. Push notifications look like SMS text messages and mobile alerts. Each mobile platform has support for push notifications — iOS, Android, Fire OS and Windows all have their own services.

Notifications can be triggered locally by an open application, or they can be “pushed” from the server to the user even when the app is not running. They allow your users to opt-in to timely updates and allow you to effectively re-engage users with customized and current content and promotions.
